I have just returned from a short stay on the Lido Venice. I stayed with a friend in a wonderful hotel - Villa Stella. It is a beautiful villa with 12 themed bedrooms, many with draped beds, beams and lovely Murano glass light fittings. Unlike some of the pictures on the web that some hotels show - very nice but nothing like when you arrive and check in, Villa Stella rooms are as you see them on the pictures- beautiful. There is air conditioning, TV and mini bar too. The time that I stayed, the mini bar was free in the room rate!
The breakfasts are great. A good selection of different breads, croissants, cakes, jams, cheeses and meat, with a variety of drinks. Breakfast can be taken in the quaint breakfast room or out in the garden. The staff are so attentive and nothing is too much bother. There is a delightful garden that is so pretty in the evening when the area is lit up with fancy lights and there is complementary tea and biscuits in the evenings in the garden too.
The location is three bus stops from the vaporetta stops on the Lido and the buses are very frequent - about every 10-15 minutes. The water buses are also very frequent to Venice main island.
Lido is much quieter than Venice main island and was a welcome relief from all the crowds. The area around the Villa is very nice and there is a good selection of trattorias, bars, shops - even a pharmacy across the road.
I can highly recommend Villa Stella.

Hi Pam, yes, that's the one. We paid 360 euros for 3 nights B&B with free mini bar( which we used) , free use of bikes( which we didnt!) and could have had free entrance to the casino and a free water taxi to Murano too but we didnt use that either - too tired after all the exploring round Venice during the day.
June is classed as high season in Venice so the hotel can be booked cheaper on different dates. Worth asking for a discount for cash too I highly recommend it - it was one of my favourite hols ( except for the dratted mossies which got me again )
