Let me start with saying that any plant I get, dies. I'm no gardener.

Well, I bought this Orchid a couple of weeks ago and have been meaning to post about how to look after it. You can tell how crap I am - I don't even have a proper pot holder for it to go in, and it's stood in a bowl at the moment!

How often do I water it? Do i trim off the dead flowers or let them fall off? It's really pretty.
Are there different types of orchid - which one is this one (please don't say "pink" )

(I had to re-size the pic, otherwise it was too big and you could see the dust on the windowsill!!! )

I had an apsaragus fern for years, it seemed to grow OK on its shelf, alhtough the little tubers kept overflowing the pot

it was one of these....

In the end I decided to replace it and got a maidenhair fern....but it didn't like the hot weather (plus I forgot to water it) then when it resprouted it got blackfly....so now it's just a clump of stalks with some little shoots I'm hoping will grow

Good luck with your orchid

It's not dead yet!! I water it infrequently (or when I remember to). It has no pretty flowers on it though. Although they're some buds there.
